External/Internal Job Posting POSITION: Wasa-Nabin Youth Program Worker ages 13-18 AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
• To ensure the development and implementation of a full range of program services that will assist in youth making healthy choices through early intervention strategies
• To ensure that the Wasa-Nabin program is grounded in culture and based on healthy development principals and practices
• To conduct an intake, needs assessment of youth, and develop a plan of action to meet the needs of youth referred to the Wasa-Nabin program
• To coordinate individual and group activities (physical, social) as required meeting needs of program clients
• To refer youth to counseling and support, as required
• To liaise with community youth’s services
• To increase cultural understanding of Native youth and their families to the broader community
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Awareness of nutrition, physical fitness, safety and health standards for children and youth.
• Knowledge of Aboriginal culture, general lifestyle of Aboriginal people and traditional
lifestyles is an asset
• Shall possess education and work related experience in the social service work area, preferably in youth related work, i.e. Child and Youth Workers and/or Social Workers
• Knowledge of social, cultural and recreational needs and interests of children and youth
• Ability to work professionally, collaboratively with youth and their families as well as agency, community and agency personnel
• Satisfactory criminal records check
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Organizational and file management skills
• Above average computer skills
• Documentation Skills and Reporting Skills
• Must Possession of a valid driver’s license
• First Aid and CPR an asset

High level of motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
Friendly Team player
Personal, approachable and supportive demeanor to work with Aboriginal youth
High level of enthusiasm & determination
Ability to work well with others
